Seoul’s Quirky & Unique Themed Cafes

Seoul has its own unique, kitchy, Instagramy style throughout the city. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world with so much to do, and I was lucky enough to live in Seoul while teaching English. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in South Korea‘s capitol city, do yourself a favor and check out some of these insanely cute, one-of-a-kind Seoul themed cafes.

Meerkat Friends

One of the most popular themed cafes in Seoul, Meerkat Friends has tiny meerkats that sit in your lap, run across your shoulders and play around while you watch all the cuteness. They also have foxes, racoons and a kangaroo!

Meercats everywhere!

I am always hesitant going to animal cafes. My first experience going to a cat cafe in Seoul was not a good one. The cats were lethargic and didn’t seem happy. They seemed worse than animals at a zoo (that cafe did not make this list). But these meerkats were full of energy, seemingly happy and loved jumping all over people. There are strict rules when you get there to ensure the safety of the animals, all worth it to sit in the pen with those small, cute meerkats.

Thanks Nature Sheep Cafe

Thanks Nature is a beautifully decorated, relaxing cafe, that just happens to have sheep roaming in an outside patio. Of the Seoul themed cafes, this one is truly unique.

See the fluffy white sheep down there?

Guests can grab a coffee and a snack, then head out to the patio to pet the sheep. It’s close to Hongik University in the trendy neighborhood of Hongdae. A perfect place to rest your feet while shopping!

Banana Tree Cafe

I’m not sure why it’s called Banana Tree, because this cool cafe serves pudding that looks like flowers and soil, in flowerpots, with little shovels as spoons. What could be cuter!? There are 2 locations in Seoul, I went to the one near Gangnam. They have more interesting things on the menu including a cotton candy latte. A very Korea-cool cafe worth checking out.

Flower pudding, so cute.

Poop Cafe

In Insadong, you’ll find the ultimate Seoul themed cafe: Ddong Poop Cafe, a place totally dedicated to everything poop. The cafe has colorful mini plungers hanging from the ceiling, toilets as seats and mini toilets used as cups. Its best experienced rather than read about. Just go.

Lovin’ Her Flower Café

This beautiful flower-themed café is a nice, calm, quiet place to relax in Hongdae with a sweet drink. The cafe is decorated with fresh, brightly colored flowers, which is a nice reprieve from the outside city. The ice in the drinks is also shaped like flowers.

Get & Show Lego Cafe

Embrace your inner child and let your imagination run wild at Get & Show Café, a dessert bar that has boxes of different Lego sets that you can construct at your table. While you create, enjoy one of the café’s tasty drinks, snacks, or their Lego-like chocolate treats.

2023 UPDATE: Sadly, the Get & Show Lego Cafe is now closed. I’ll be on the lookout for any other Lego Cafes that might pop up and update as soon as possible.

Midnight in Seoul Cereal Cafe

Like most people, I can eat cereal morning, noon and night, so a cereal cafe was a must see stop in Seoul. The small, brightly colored cafe has a menu of all your favorite sweet, fruity cereals with choice of milks.

2023 UPDATE: Another sad update, the Cereal Cafe closed permanently due to COVID.

This is not an all-inclusive list, but just my favorites. Let me know your favorites!
